Veneers in Souderton, PA

what are veneers?

Veneers are very thin, tooth-shaped pieces of porcelain that are designed to fit over the front surfaces of your teeth. They cover up the fronts of your teeth, covering up flaws and improving your overall appearance. Veneers are durable, look and feel natural, and require minimal special care, making them a very popular choice for cosmetic dentistry. Contact Indian Valley Dental today for an appointment with your Souderton dentist, and see if veneers are right for you.

What to expect when getting veneers

Cosmetic Consultation

First, you’ll meet with Dr. Grossman for a cosmetic dentistry consultation. Dr. Grossman will examine your mouth and discuss all of your options for enhancing your smile, including veneers and other cosmetic treatments.

Tooth Trimming & Prep

If you’re approved, you’ll come back for your next appointment in a few weeks. Dr. Grossman will clean and numb your mouth, then trim your teeth to prepare them for veneers. Once your teeth are prepared, he will take images and impressions of your mouth, and send these to a dental lab.

Building your permanent veneers

You’ll be sent home with a set of temporary veneers to cover up your teeth. Then, a dental lab will use the information sent by Dr. Grossman to build your set of permanent dental veneers. It usually takes a few weeks for your permanent veneers to be built and sent to our office.

tooth stains

In cases where teeth whitening isn’t enough to restore your smile, veneers can be used to cover up deep or severe stains, and provide you with an even, appealing, and picture-perfect smile.

gaps between teeth

Small gaps between teeth may be treatable with veneers, which add size and improve the shape of your teeth. However, veneers usually can’t be used to treat large gaps, which may require orthodontic care.

chips or mishapen teeth

Veneers can cover up misshapen teeth or slightly chipped teeth, restore their shape, and enhance your appearance. With veneers, you can improve your smile and be proud of how you look.

uneven or slightly crooked teeth

If you have uneven teeth or slightly crooked teeth, veneers can restore the shape of your teeth and improve their appearance. However, they are not appropriate for treating serious problems with your teeth and jaw alignment. Orthodontic treatment like Invisalign may be a better option in these cases.

Are veneers permanent?

Yes. Veneers require the removal of some of your natural tooth structure, so they are considered to be an irreversible, permanent treatment. If you’re not interested in permanently altering your teeth, you may want to consider an alternative treatment like dental bonding or teeth whitening.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers typically last 10-20 years with proper care. After you get your veneers, it’s important to come to Indian Valley Dental every six months for a checkup. That way, if one of your veneers wears out or needs to be replaced, it’s easy for Dr. Grossman to repair it and keep your smile looking its best.

Can I Whiten My Veneers?

No. Veneers are not made of tooth enamel and they are non-porous. This means they do not respond to whitening chemicals like hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide. It’s not possible to whiten your veneers.

There’s good news, though. While they don’t respond to whitening treatments, veneers are completely stain-resistant. Because they are made of smooth porcelain, they cannot pick up stains from coffee, tea, smoking, or anything else. This means that your new veneers will look bright and shiny for years to come.

This is also why many patients choose to have their teeth whitened before getting veneers at Indian Valley Dental. If you whiten your teeth before getting veneers, Dr. Spencer Grossman can match your veneers to your newly-brightened smile. This ensures the best results and a picture-perfect grin!

What Are The Benefits Of Veneers?

First, veneers are highly versatile. They can be used to treat almost any cosmetic flaw with your smile, including covering up severe stains, filling up gaps between teeth, reshaping uneven teeth, repairing minor chips, and even correcting slightly crooked teeth. In most cases, you can completely transform your smile with a set of veneers, even if you’re facing lots of different cosmetic issues.

Veneers also last a very long time. Typically, they will last for at least 10 years, and it’s pretty common for veneers to last 15 years or even longer with proper care. Even if one of your veneers does fail, it’s easy to replace it and restore your smile.

There’s also no need to make dramatic changes to your oral hygiene routine since veneers are easy to care for. Just brush, floss, and treat your new veneers just like you would treat your natural teeth. That’s all there is to it!

Finally, getting a set of veneers is a fantastic way to improve your self-confidence and self-esteem. If you don’t like how your teeth look, you may feel self-conscious when you smile, speak, laugh, or even eat around other people. With veneers, you can get the smile you’ve always dreamed about and feel proud of your grin once again.

Can Veneers Get Cavities?

No. Veneers are made of an artificial ceramic material that is not affected by oral bacteria or acid. This means that your veneers cannot decay or be damaged by cavities. However, this does not mean that you can neglect your oral health.

That’s because while your veneers can’t get cavities, the underlying tooth material that supports them can still decay. Veneers are just a thin layer of porcelain that fits over your healthy tooth structure. If you don’t take good care of your teeth, the underlying tooth can still decay. This can lead to a tooth infection in the long run, and can also cause your veneer to weaken and fail.

Because of this, it’s important to take good care of your smile after you get veneers. Make sure you brush twice a day for two minutes using fluoride toothpaste, and floss once per day, too. You should also eat a healthy diet, avoid smoking, and see Dr. Grossman every six months for a preventive visit. During your teeth cleaning and oral exam, Dr. Grossman will check on your teeth and your veneers to make sure everything looks good.
