Unlike natural tooth enamel, the ceramic material used for veneers is not porous. This means that veneers are completely invulnerable to stains.
What to expect when getting veneers
Cosmetic Consultation
First, you’ll meet with Dr. Grossman for a cosmetic dentistry consultation. Dr. Grossman will examine your mouth and discuss all of your options for enhancing your smile, including veneers and other cosmetic treatments.
Tooth Trimming & Prep
If you’re approved, you’ll come back for your next appointment in a few weeks. Dr. Grossman will clean and numb your mouth, then trim your teeth to prepare them for veneers. Once your teeth are prepared, he will take images and impressions of your mouth, and send these to a dental lab.
Building your permanent veneers
You’ll be sent home with a set of temporary veneers to cover up your teeth. Then, a dental lab will use the information sent by Dr. Grossman to build your set of permanent dental veneers. It usually takes a few weeks for your permanent veneers to be built and sent to our office.
Permanent veneer placement
Once your permanent veneers arrive at our office, you’ll come back for your final appointment. Dr. Grossman will remove your temporaries, then attach your permanent veneers to your teeth with dental cement. Then, he’ll polish your veneers one last time, and send you home to enjoy your new smile.
What can veneers fix?
tooth stains
In cases where teeth whitening isn’t enough to restore your smile, veneers can be used to cover up deep or severe stains, and provide you with an even, appealing, and picture-perfect smile.
gaps between teeth
Small gaps between teeth may be treatable with veneers, which add size and improve the shape of your teeth. However, veneers usually can’t be used to treat large gaps, which may require orthodontic care.
chips or mishapen teeth
Veneers can cover up misshapen teeth or slightly chipped teeth, restore their shape, and enhance your appearance. With veneers, you can improve your smile and be proud of how you look.
uneven or slightly crooked teeth
If you have uneven teeth or slightly crooked teeth, veneers can restore the shape of your teeth and improve their appearance. However, they are not appropriate for treating serious problems with your teeth and jaw alignment. Orthodontic treatment like Invisalign may be a better option in these cases.

Are veneers permanent?
Yes. Veneers require the removal of some of your natural tooth structure, so they are considered to be an irreversible, permanent treatment. If you’re not interested in permanently altering your teeth, you may want to consider an alternative treatment like dental bonding or teeth whitening.
How long do veneers last?
Veneers typically last 10-20 years with proper care. After you get your veneers, it’s important to come to Indian Valley Dental every six months for a checkup. That way, if one of your veneers wears out or needs to be replaced, it’s easy for Dr. Grossman to repair it and keep your smile looking its best.
